Honey Breakfast & Muar!

Few days ago, I went to Muar to continue our “Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan” trip.
We parked at the exact same spot when we came the other day.
I remember the boutique, Poppy.
To my luck, the hawker stalls were still opened. Bliss!
Supposed to get some food from there last few weeks but we were late.

First, we approached the Fried Oyster stall and ordered one plate.
After that, we moved on to the stall selling Fish Porridge.

FACT
The fried oyster in Muar is totally different from Melaka’s.
Muar’s version looks like omelet. Tastes like omelet.

TWO of the oysters looked like they are pregnant. Sick!
You can imagine having that raw and pregnant oyster on your tongue.
Ugh!
For your information, I am very, very sensitive to hard shell-y seafood. Except shrimp.
Crab is still ok. Soft shell crabs are one of the most wonderful foods on Earth.

The fish porridge in Melaka is totally different from Melaka’s.
Muar’s version: rice drowned in soup. Fish on rice.

There is such rice-porridge in Melaka but I prefer the real porridge - soft and smooth.
FIRST ROUND done.

SECOND ROUND
Cannot miss any seafood when you are in Muar. Never do that!
I had Asam Pedas Sotong the other time. Realllllyy nice!
I planned to have the same thing but he decided to try something else.
So we drove to Long Poh Restaurant. The tables are filled with people.
And we were only two people. Quite embarrassing.

What we ordered:
Bayam with Sambal
Honestly, if it was kang kung, I will go high!
But bayam is quite nice lar. Taste is not bad. Spice-eh!

Fried Sotong in Butter and Oat
Looks cute! Imagine oat wrapped around the sotong.
I could still feel the taste in my stomach. Haha! It was the butter.

Liang Cha
The drink

Overall, it is not satisfying. BUT it was cheap!
RM17.50
I thought it would be expensive and we were worried that we didn’t have enough. LOL!
Gratefully, we had enough.
“Want to drink Sup Kambing or not?”
“Ha? Eat somemore?”
“Ya. The soup is very nice one. My friend’s shop. Now he is the boss.”
“Wah! Okayyyyyyy…..”
“Very cheap only. You can get it for RM2.”

I paid RM4 for a bowl of Sup Kambing. Hantam cakap RM2! Kaka…
It was quite nice. Green, as usual – but not thick.
I have a craving for this goat soup ever since I tried it somewhere near City Square, JB.
I had it with a few pieces of bread. Feels like dipping into curry. Really wow!
THIRD ROUND done. I texted Pui Kim regarding our food journey.
I, myself, cannot believe that I had 3 rounds of dinner in Muar. Within few hours time.
Tsk… Too bad, I cannot control this natural greed for food. Hehehe…

Oh! Right after first round, we checked the Chinese kuih opposite the hawker stalls.
I went nuts! Those kuih brought back goooood memories. I got super excited.
We got:
3 boxes of small snow skin mooncake
1 packet of sesame rod
2 biscuit of my previous post (Pig & Merlion)
1 packet of small cakes (green, pink, white)
1 small kuih with coconut (looks like pulut)

We didn’t eat everything in one night. Those are for “rainy” days.
But we stole mooncake to satisfy our long-awaited desire during breakfast. Hehehe…
And it is indeed simply sweet.
Simply lovely.
VERYY Delicious!
VERYY long post! :p
